Dovetail Games' Licensing Deal with Microsoft Takes Flight

Friday, July 11, 2014 @ 8:00 AM

The award-winning creators of the best-selling Train Simulator franchise have today announced a global licensing deal with Microsoft, granting them the rights to develop and publish all-new flight products based on Microsoft’s genre-defining flight technology.

First released in 2006, Microsoft Flight Simulator X is widely acknowledged as one of the most popular simulation products on the market. Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition will include the Deluxe Edition and the Acceleration Expansion Pack in one bundle. Dovetail Games will bring Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition to the Steam online gaming platform for the first time in late 2014.

Flight Simulator X + iFlightPlanner for iPad

With the release of iFlightPlanner for iPad v2.0, you have the ability to connect your iPad to Flight Simulator X via a plugin called FSX Flight.  Once in the virtual cockpit, FSXFlight will push all simulated GPS data to iFlightPlanner for iPad via networked WiFi connection and force the iPad to behave as if it were flying in the same airplane.

This feature is already available to all iFlightPlanner Premium members and you can upgrade today for as little as $9.99 per month and experience all that iFlightPlanner has to offer!

VIDEO: Microburst Event Forces Super Cubs Airborne

Wednesday, July 2, 2014 @ 8:00 AM

Extremely strong winds at the USAF Academy Airfield in Colorado Springs, Colorado, caused a dangerous emergency situation for pilots of four tow planes sitting on the tarmac as a 55-knot spring gust front swept across the airport.

Two of the four pilots were forced to take to the air or risk having their Piper Super Cubs flipped over as bystanders jumped onto the wings of gliders to keep them on the ground.  The video, filmed from the control tower, was captured this past April 23 as students prepared for glider lessons at the mountain airport, where strong winds can start without warning.
