Route Rubberbanding, Custom Waypoints, & A/FD Upgrades

Friday, January 21, 2011 @ 3:29 PM

We are excited to officially announce our highly anticipated upgrade to iFlightPlanner.com with the introduction of route rubberbanding and the ability for Premium members to create, save, and use custom waypoints in their flight planning.  These latest features build on the existing functionality of our sectional and IFR charts in the familiar Google Maps interface by giving pilots the ability to interactively point, click, and drag their routes around weather, airspace, or to any number of specific locations.

We also upgraded the Airport/Facility Directory (A/FD) by adding graphical and color-coded facility type and usage identifiers to each listing.  These identifiers, along with the ability to sort a directory that includes over 20,000 certified entries down to a manageable size based on user-defined settings, is all geared towards helping pilots get to the information they need as quickly as possible.

These new features were the direct result of feedback we received from our users!  If you have an idea for a new feature you'd like to see or a tweak that would make your flight planning experience that much better, please don't hesitate to contact us!  We sincerely appreciate everyone's input and will continue our commitment to making iFlightPlanner.com the premier flight planning resource on the web!
