About Nathan

Certified in 1988, I've been flying for a major airline since 1998, flew for SkyWest from 1994-1998 and for Air Midwest from 1990-1994. I began flying with my father, a private pilot and Ph.D. educator in 1978. As a testament to his teaching ability, I was released to solo a Cessna 172 (before the instructor learned I was only 14) after only 2.5 hours in two flights. I soloed at 16, and passed my private checkride on my 17th birthday with 41.1 loggable hours.

I am not currently working with any students, but when I was active, my forte was in getting other instructors' students through their stuck points and learning plateaus, because, just as my father taught me, I naturally gravitate to teaching at the highest, deepest levels of learning, and not the rote memorization that seems to have taken over the training in every field of human endeavor, including aviation today.
